PLAY WITH ME

I TRIED TO TEACH MY CHILD WITH BOOKS

HE GAVE ME ONLY PUZZLED LOOKS

I TRIED TO TEACH MY CHILD WITH WORDS

THEY PASSED HIM BY, OFT UNHEARD

DESPARINLGLY I TURNED ASIDE

"HOW SHALL I TEACH THIS CHILD?" I CRIED

INTO MY HANDS HE PUT THE KEY

"COME", HE SAID, "PLAY WITH ME".

In case you didn’t know it our 4th and 5th grade students are taught how to in-line skate in physical education class. Through a special “Skate –in-School program offered through Rollerblade International our students have the opportunity to learn a lifetime fitness activity and have fun while doing it. The students wear all the appropriate safety gear, including helmet, knee and elbow pads and wrist guards. All children are required to wear a special shower cap under the helmets for hygiene reasons. The Skate in School program has proved the test of time and continues to be one of our most popular units of study. Even our novice skaters enjoy the program. They start out only able to walk on a carpet and end up skating around the gym. It is just amazing to witness their success and increased self-esteem.
